The No.4 Australian issue of the Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction has safely arrived and I have added the image to the site.
All four of the the Yachting Magazines were won on eBay, and are hopefully on their way here now.
There's nothing else new at the moment. I have added a few more images to the website to show my copies of various book editions, and made a few other improvements, but it's a long way between any totally new items - maybe I have just about got them all!!
As I said earlier, items for the collection seem to come in groups. I have found another Yachting magazine which contains an illustration by Jack; I already have the illustration (click here to see), but I want the entire magazine for completeness.
It's the January 1947 issue, which is an unusual item as it is the only magazine illustration I have found which was commissioned after the war years. It's for an Elco pleasure craft - Jack did several illustrations for Elco PT boats before joining the Army. As you can see, the magazine is not in great condition, but that's supposedly only the cover.
Hopefully there's not too much interest in the auction and I can acquire it at a reasonable price.
I have placed a bid on three Yachting Magazines (shown below) which contain Jack's illustrations - November 1942, December 1942 and January 1943. I already have copies of the illustrations removed from the magazines, but I prefer to get a complete copy of each magazine if I can, even though the cost of postage is becoming crippling - I feel that it makes the collection more complete. Fortunately the Australian dollar is buying 90 US cents at present, so the exchange rate is friendly, even if the United States Post Office is not.
I have also located a copy of the No.4 Australian issue of the Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction with Jack's art on the cover (right). It's located in Australia, so the postage is not so bad. I am collecting international issues of the SF Pulps to make the collection as complete as possible - I have four more to complete the collection to my current knowledge.
I have done a complete rewrite of the indexing of the website - hopefully it is a lot more interesting and used friendly than the old layout.
No new finds to report to date. It seems to come in waves, and there's not much about at the moment.
