I have added a bit of information about Argosy magazine and Adventure magazine if any visitor wants to look a bit further. In the files there's links to sites which provide images of many of the covers. Both magazines have long histories and it's interesting to look at some of the old cover art.

Today, I noticed a sudden and dramatic increase in traffic to the website from Russian users. I traced it back to a forum in Russian history and war, on which a user named "panzer_papa" had placed several links to this site, and generated quite a lot of comments. I tried translating the Russian using Google; the results were rather patchy and sometimes unintentionally amusing, but I was able to get the idea. No doubt my communications would seem the same when translated into Russian.

One of the linked images was this one below of Jack's WEFT chart. I joined the forum and I was able to have some good communications with panzer_papa; thankfully his English is good, so we were able to have an interesting exchange. (Click here to see the forum.)

He kindly sent me a link to this image of a Soviet WEFT chart used when the Soviet Army joined the war against Japan, which is quite fascinating - click on the thumbnail for a full size image. This image of an original WW2 Soviet Union poster was provided by Alexey "Absent" Pekarsh from http://www.sukhoi.ru - thanks to Absent for permission to reproduce the chart here.

This is quite amazing! There is no doubt that the world is getting smaller thanks to the internet!!

I am still frustrated in trying to find copies of these magazines anywhere. I did find one of them and won the ebay auction, but it never arrived - very suspicious. They are apparently quite rare because they were issued during the war years, and very few were sold - and many of those were lost anyway. However, I would really appreciate any assistance.

All the Yachting Magazines mentioned last month have arrived safely, and I have located a copy of Galaxis no. 6, which is a German version of Galaxy Science Fiction in German, featuring Jack's artwork on the cover.

I have also included a page explaining the current situation on copyright issues with Jack's illustrations here.
