My copy of Fusees Interplanetaires arrived from France today - it's in quite good condition too. I have purchased the two German versions of Jack's space books from a dealer in Switzerland and they are on the way to Oz as well.
The only one I have yet to get is the second French book Premiere Croisiere sur la Lune - I found a copy for sale, but the dealer wanted a ridiculous 60 Euros plus postage, over $100 Australian. I will just have to wait a bit longer!
Dover Publications from New York have been re-publishing some of Jack Coggins's books over the last couple of years in paperback. A current list is here. I have acquired copies of these books, and they are well produced and worth getting if you can't get the originals. I have added these images to the appropriate areas in the collection.
I found a very interesting website recently - it's Pat Matthews' site here. Pat's main interest is in radio controlled model making, but he has a really great collection of advertising art associated with PT boats from WW2 here. I found some examples of Jack Coggins's artworks with some great references to original publications. Pat has kindly sent me some images to include on the website advertising page here, and I have reproduced the actual adverts below. I already have two of them, but there is one entirely new one and I have been chasing a couple of them for a while. I am really pleased to get some references so I can search for the original magazines. Thanks, Pat.
The Reading Eagle recently published an article about the results of a recent Pook & Pook art auction, including Jack Coggins's paintings mentioned earlier. Click here to read the article in rich text format.

Further to the earlier item about the exhibition of Jack's work at the Institute, five of the better quality oil paintings were sent to an auction house. The paintings were auctioned on eBay on October 27, and all sold for prices from US$1100 to US$2400, for a total of US$8000. Images of these excellent paintings are shown below.
I have just received 10 more copies of British YANK magazine from the period when Jack was a correspondent in Britain. I found two more examples of his work in the magazines, which brings the total to 24, plus one photograph. I need only 5 more issues to have the full set of British YANKs which list Jack as a correspondent, from November 14, 1943 until August 31, 1945. The new images have been added to the YANK page.
I have copies of Jack's two most popular space books (see below) published in the US and in the UK, but I have recently found that the same books were published in France and Germany in their respective languages. I have located copies of the German books, but the price is too high. I have just purchased a copy of "Fusees Interplanetaire" on eBay but have not found a copy of "Premiere Crosiere sur la Lune" yet. The images of these books are reproduced below.

The restrospective exhibition of Jack's works at the Institute of the Arts has been very successful and has been extended until the end of the year. 85 works have been sold so far, and five larger works have been sent to an outside auction house. Unfortunately there is no catalogue, but there will be another article in the Reading Eagle soon, to which I will try to get a reference. Visit The Institute of the Arts for further information about the exhibition.
