I have finally managed to get a copy of the news article from the Reading Eagle published on 3 September, 2006, which announced the Jack Coggins retrospective exhibition. Click here to download the article in Adobe Reader PDF format. It appears as though many interesting items were discovered and put on display, I am still trying to get more details. Two of Jack's paintings from the article are shown below - these are very different from his usual subject material.
As promised, an expert model maker from the U.S. has begun work on a scale model of one of Jack Coggins's space station images. It is from the book "By Space Ship to the Moon" - he is currently in the drawing stage. Here is an image of the work in progress - the space craft will be 1/350 scale from Jack's original illustrations.
The Institute of the Arts (The Wyomissing Institute of Fine Arts at Reading, PA, where Jack taught for 45 years) is now hosting an exhibition "Remembering Jack: A Tribute to Jack Coggins" from Sept. 8 to Nov. 10, 2006. Visit The Institute of the Arts for further information.
Any reports from visitors to this exhibition would be greatly appreciated.
Earlier this year I created an entry on Wikipedia for Jack (click here to have a look.) which seems to be quite well used. Recently a contributor added a new reference to a digital collection at the University of North Texas which contains information and images of Jack's two aircraft recognition and insignia charts which were comissioned by the War Department in 1942/43. Click on the images below to see these entries.
