I have been looking at my collection of Science Fiction pulp magazines featuring Jack's cover art. All of the magazines were originally published in the USA, but many of them were subsequently published in other countries, including the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and Germany.

I have collected copies of all the UK issues of Galaxy Science Fiction featuring Jack's artwork. I have found an image of the German issue "Galaxis" but I have not been able to acquire a copy yet. The UK magazines were published in almost original US format and quality, but totally out of chronological sequence; generally the main differences were the advertisements.

Thrilling Wonder Stories was published in the UK, Australia and New Zealand and I am currently acquiring copies of these. I have just received one Australian issue; No.101 from 1953 and I have ordered No.103. No.101 is a very reduced copy of the original US issue from August 1953, many of the features are missing and only the stories remain. The cover image is poor quality with bad colour registration, however the interior pages are OK. I have located copies of the UK issues and I am waiting on postage quotes. I have also located a NZ version of No.103 but the price is a bit steep.

The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction was also published in the UK and Australia, and I have found images of several issues with Jack's covers, but as yet I have not been able to locate or acquire any copies.

I have a copy of the UK version of Science Fiction Quarterly from February 1955, which is an almost exact replica of the original issued in the US in November 1953. I also have both UK and Australian versions of Startling Stories, reissued from the US October 1952 issue; once again these are much reduced versions of the originals.

Further to my entry last month on new acquisitions on eBay for the collection, I had mixed success. I won the image from the magazine, but I failed to get the PM Newspaper. The competition was just too strong for me, and the bidding went over US$150 - luckily I have the image which I have added to the PM page. I will just have to keep looking.

I also sadly missed out on a copy of "Elco PTs in Action" - a very rare magazine with Jack's art on the cover. Once again the bidding went over US$114 - and even though I went well above my normal limit, I couldn't compete with the big spending US collectors. I have reproduced below the images of both the items I missed out on.
